Ann1Great News!

Welcome to Tassajara Hills Elementary’s website. It is our hope that you find this website informative and easy to use.

Tassajara Hills Elementary is an excellent school, educating approximately 650 students in grades K-5 in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. We have high standards for student achievement to ensure that all students learn at high levels. From the results of STAR testing, student achievement is measured by a single number, ranging from a low of 200 to a high of 1000, the Academic Performance Index (API). Its purpose is to measure the academic performance and growth of schools. The API score of Tassajara Hills Elementary is 942, one of the highest across the school district.

We attribute the success at Tassajara Hills Elementary to the high caliber of a staff committed to continuous improvement as well as partnerships with families and the community. Parents are always welcome at school to help in classrooms, media center, copy center, computer lab, at lunch time, and to participate in our extra curricular programs such at “Meet the Masters”, and “Stride for Pride”.

Students at Tassajara Hills Elementary feel safe and cared for. In longitudinal and ethnographic studies, youth of all ages continually state that what they want is a teacher who cares. The results of the 2009 California Healthy Kids Survey (given to all 5th graders across the state) indicates that 100% of our students feel that, at our school, there is a teacher or another adult who listens when they have something to say. The survey also reported that ninety percent of our students are happy to be at this school most or all of the time and ninety four percent feel safe most or all of the time.

Comments and questions are welcome, so please feel free to contact our staff at any time. We are committed to ensuring that our students’ school experience is a positive and successful one.

Our school district, along with others across the state, is facing a severe budget crisis based on the Governor’s proposed budget for the 2010-2011 school year.  We are forecasting a two year budget deficit of approximately $30,000,000.  We fear that next school year may be the most difficult year for public education in years.  The goals of the Board of Education and the District Superintendent are to keep the school district financially solvent, minimize program and service reductions (including keeping class size in our primary grades as low as possible), and to preserve as many jobs as possible, which includes trying to avoid as many layoffs of our teachers as possible.  For more information about the budget crisis and its effect on the San Ramon Unified School District, click here to read frequently asked questions and answers.
