Voluntary Science Expo 2018

Dear Tassajara Hills Students and Parents,

Welcome to the first Tassajara Hills voluntary science fair expo for grades K- 5.  Students will conduct an investigation of their choice, and present their work on a tri- fold poster board that will be displayed in the MPR on Thursday, April 26, 2018.  This assignment is voluntary…no grades or prizes will be given.  Parents are welcome to help their child learn and investigate a science topic and perform a science investigation.  Students in science alliance may exhibit their science fair project as well.

Choose something that interests you!  For example, if you like baking or cooking, use a favorite recipe to investigate the purpose of one ingredient, by removing or changing that ingredient.  If you want to work with plants, start now so that you will have enough time for growing and observing.

GARDEN CLUB

Hello THE Garden Club Students, Families and Friends,

The time has finally come….we will have our first garden club meeting of 2018 on Monday, January 29th.  Hooray!!!!!

We will meet at our usual time 3:00 – 4:15 pm.

Due to the wonderful  abundance of greens in the garden we are going to enjoy a  special snack in the science lab.  I will harvest lettuce and  arugula and provide a  a salad bar snack before we go out into the garden.  Additionally,  we will have kale chips.

After our snack we will head out to the garden.  It has been raining so make sure all students wear appropriate shoes and clothes.  Please  bring a bag to carry home goodies from the garden.

I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday….its going to be a great day.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Thank you,

Lynne

Welcome to the Science Lab

Welcome Back to the Science Lab

Hello Tassajara Families and Students!!!

Welcome to the 2017-2018 School year.  My name is Lynne Ertola and I am the science lab teacher for grades 1 - 5.  My first, second, and third grade students will come to the science lab once a week.  My fourth and fifth grade students join me in the science lab twice a week.

I  believe the science lab should support the material learned in the primary classroom by hands-on, inquiry based experiments and investigations.  Students will be studying three main units in each grade level: Earth Science, Physical Science, and Life Science.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me via email at lertola@srvusd.net or my classroom phone 925-855-7826.

It's going to be a great year learning about science and practicing our science lab skills.
