Open Monday through Thursday daily from 8:00 until 3:00 the library provides students with a wide choice of fiction and non-fiction books and periodicals for checkout during weekly classroom visits. Our collection’s focus supports the elementary curriculum and provides students with a wide range of reading materials of interest to elementary students. Our very active and busy library circulates 4000-5000 books a month during the school year. Our many parent volunteers assist on a regular basis in the efficient running of this busy school site.
Students in grades 1-5 may check out 2 books. Books are due weekly for return or renewal. Students with overdue books are encouraged to look for books they’d like to check out when theirs is returned. Email overdue notices home will be sent to parents when students have long overdue items. We do not send paper notices thus avoiding lost messages home.
Destiny is our library management program used throughout the San Ramon Valley School District. Students link to the library via the Internet at school or home. Students are able to explore the library collection, link to age appropriate websites on our home page and create booklists of books in anticipation of their library visit. Students are being introduced and trained during their scheduled library visits.
Tassajara Hills library has a twice yearly Scholastic Book Fair which is the only fundraiser dedicated in support of our school library. Funds raised allow the library to purchase new curriculum materials, books to enrich and expand students reading experiences and books to support the classroom reading programs and reading levels. We appreciate our parents continuing support of this valuable event.
