Message from Superintendent Malloy 10/6/2020
Posted 10/6/20

I know you have heard from me quite a bit over the last few weeks.  I continue to receive several emails about our next steps that would suggest that further clarification is still required.  I know our communications are sometimes long.  I apologize for this. Unfortunately, the information is complex, and I am learning that when we do not provide this information in a comprehensive manner, it can cause more confusion.

Group Discussions

________

I would like to provide an opportunity for parents/guardians to meet with me (or a member of my team) in small groups, over the next while, so that we can answer as many questions as possible about our next steps, in a dialogue fashion.  I would also like to take this opportunity to provide additional information, considering the many questions that have been asked. We will meet with small groups of 10 parents/guardians for 30 minutes beginning ASAP and through October.

Sign-Up:

Please complete this form to indicate your interest in participating in the small group sessions. Once we know how many people are interested, we will send a link to sign up that will include dates and times. You will have until 5 p.m. tomorrow, Wednesday 10/7, to complete this interest form

Participation Details:

  • Each person will be given one minute to share their perspective or to ask some questions.

  • We will have 20 minutes for dialog and clarification.

    • I understand this is a short amount of time, but we would like to make ourselves available to as many parents as possible.

  • The only norms for this meeting are that participants do not critique others’ perspectives and that the discussion is respectful.

  • The purpose of this meeting is to discuss how we will move forward.  It is not a debate on the decisions the Board has already made about reopening schools to in-person instruction.

  • If you understand the direction we are heading, then there would be no need to participate in these dialogues. I trust that there will be other opportunities for us to connect in the very near future.

Please continue to discuss any questions/concerns with your teachers and principal over these next weeks as we move forward, especially if your child(ren) is struggling in this remote learning environment.
