Nice to Meet You!

Hi, I'm Mrs. Edgell, and I'm so excited to be your child's new 1st grade teacher. Currently I live in Rio Vista with my husband Garry, and our 2 adorable pups, Bella and Mia.  I've been teaching 1st grade for 23 years, and at Tassajara Hills since we've opened. Prior to teaching, I stayed home with my children and had a licensed family day care for 13 years. So.... I've always loved working with children!

While teaching is one of my “loves”, I also treasure the time I spend with my family.  Garry and I have 3 grown children, Jamaica, Loren and Gavin. The boys are both graduates of Monte Vista, as well as my husband, (graduated MV’s 2nd year). Loren has 3 delightful children and is getting remarried this upcoming May. Gavin and Tara were married last September and just bought a new home. Jamaica recently returned to the Bay Area and is enjoying her new life with her 2 kitties. Sooo thrilled! We are incredibly fortunate they all live within an hour away, and life is always on the go! When we do have spare time though I love relaxing by working in my garden, cooking, reading and doing crossword & jigsaw puzzles. We also love to travel to Europe when we can! :)

Dear Tassajara Families,

Local author Dana Murphy is coming to Tassajara Hills!  Children in 1st through 5th grades will attend a short assembly on Monday, March 25th to hear about her book and her writing process.  Please see the attached flyer for more information. If you would like to order a signed/personalized copy of her book, please return the order form by Friday, March 22nd. Her is a link to the flyer:  Author Pre-Visit Flyer (1)(1).pdf (PDF)

Book orders are, of course, completely optional.  The book order will be due by Friday, March 22nd.  If you wouldn't mind collecting them in the classroom and sending them to the library, that would be great.

Thank you!

Picture Day Tips - The Outfit

  • As you view the styles, make sure the outfit will complement the colors.
  • Avoid shirts with large words and logos.  Layered clothing, solid colors, or patterns look best.
  • Make sure you and your child both love the outfit. They will be more confident and relaxed for the photo.

Thanks so much!  Have a wonderful week!
