Nice to Meet You!

Hi, I'm Mrs. Edgell, and I'm so excited to be your child's new 1st grade teacher. Currently I live in Rio Vista with my husband Garry, and our 2 adorable pups, Bella and Mia.  I've been teaching 1st grade for 23 years, and at Tassajara Hills since we've opened. Prior to teaching, I stayed home with my children and had a licensed family day care for 13 years. So.... I've always loved working with children!

While teaching is one of my “loves”, I also treasure the time I spend with my family.  Garry and I have 3 grown children, Jamaica, Loren and Gavin. The boys are both graduates of Monte Vista, as well as my husband, (graduated MV’s 2nd year). Loren has 3 delightful children and is getting remarried this upcoming May. Gavin and Tara were married last September and just bought a new home. Jamaica recently returned to the Bay Area and is enjoying her new life with her 2 kitties. Sooo thrilled! We are incredibly fortunate they all live within an hour away, and life is always on the go! When we do have spare time though I love relaxing by working in my garden, cooking, reading and doing crossword & jigsaw puzzles. We also love to travel to Europe when we can! :)

Our Wonderful 1st Grade Class News!

Dear P1 Families,

I hope you are having a wonderful week. Here are a few reminders for you of all the fun we will be having next week!

Holiday Trains – We are making them this afternoon and the kids are sooo excited!  They will bring them home on Monday so they can dry over the weekend.

We will continue practicing daily for our Holidays Around the World Performance for Wednesday.  PLEASE also PRACTICE WITH YOUR STUDENT NIGHTLY AT HOME SO THEY ARE VERY FAMILIAR WITH THEIR LINES. They don’t need to memorize them, but should know them well. Maybe practice “performing”  it with the family as the audience.  Remember, loud, clear slow lines. (They always speed up during the performance;)

On Wednesday, December 19th from 11:15-12:30 we will have our Holidays Around the World Performance! We look forward to having families come and watch the show. Then, enjoy our potluck with some traditional holiday food that is special to your child and his/her family.  Please label ingredients for allergies. Thanks!

On Thursday, December 20th (the last day of school before winter break) our class will participate in a book exchange and PJ day! As our holiday gifts to each other, every child is kindly asked to bring in a wrapped book to give to another classmate. This is an anonymous gift exchange and we will play a fun ‘musical chairs’ type game to exchange the books. We will also come dressed in our PJ’s! Please see the attached flyer for more details.

I will also be participating in the book exchange and I will give each child a special holiday book as a holiday gift from me. Shh…please don’t tell them as that part is a surprise!

Thank you so much for all of your support during this special holiday time. I know it is a busy month for all and I appreciate you helping to make it so special for us here in P1.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to ask.

Have a wonderful weekend!
