Nice to Meet You!

Hi, I'm Mrs. Edgell, and I'm so excited to be your child's new 1st grade teacher. Currently I live in Rio Vista with my husband Garry, and our 2 adorable pups, Bella and Mia.  I've been teaching 1st grade for 23 years, and at Tassajara Hills since we've opened. Prior to teaching, I stayed home with my children and had a licensed family day care for 13 years. So.... I've always loved working with children!

While teaching is one of my “loves”, I also treasure the time I spend with my family.  Garry and I have 3 grown children, Jamaica, Loren and Gavin. The boys are both graduates of Monte Vista, as well as my husband, (graduated MV’s 2nd year). Loren has 3 delightful children and is getting remarried this upcoming May. Gavin and Tara were married last September and just bought a new home. Jamaica recently returned to the Bay Area and is enjoying her new life with her 2 kitties. Sooo thrilled! We are incredibly fortunate they all live within an hour away, and life is always on the go! When we do have spare time though I love relaxing by working in my garden, cooking, reading and doing crossword & jigsaw puzzles. We also love to travel to Europe when we can! :)

Our Wonderful 1st Grade Class News!

Welcome New P-1 Families,

I’m so thrilled to have you in our class this year! I’m sure you‘ll have a fantastic first day of school Monday! The kids are going to be a delightful group and it’s going to be an amazing year. However, me welcoming them will be a bit delayed. Over the summer I had a much-needed hip replacement surgery and will be on medical leave recovering until Sept. 7.  Many of you may have seen me during the second half of last year hobbling about.  Thankfully, I feel so much better and can’t wait to return!

During the first month of school while I’m home recovering, the kids are so fortunate to have Mrs. Stroud here. She’s a fabulous teacher; great friend and I trust her completely!  She and I have worked together over several years, and she came and helped me this summer to get the classroom ready for this year. She’s familiar with the classroom, our usual routines and the curriculum. While I’m gone, we’ll continue to communicate and plan frequently.  Our goal is to insure a smooth transition for when I return.

While I’m gone, if you need to contact Mrs. Stroud, she’ll have a temporary school email she'll access during the workday. She'll let you know when that is set up.  If you need additional help with questions or concerns, please contact the office directly and they will be able to help you,  (925) 855-7800. Once I return, please feel free to contact me via email with any questions or concerns. My email is Or, you may leave a message on my cellphone: (925) 323-5481, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I’m able.
