About Miss Cappelletti

Hello! I am so excited to be teaching your students this year :) This will be my fifth year teaching at Tassajara Hills, but my 7th year as a staff member. I have taught 4th and 5th grade since being a teacher here at THE and before that I was a student teacher, a para educator, and a substitute teacher. I feel beyond lucky to be  working at this amazing school with all of the talented and wonderful teachers and staff!

I grew up in the Danville/Alamo area, attended Monte Vista High School and earned my undergraduate degree in Sociology from UC Berkeley. After graduating from CAL I earned my teaching credential from Saint Mary College.

When I am not teaching or working in my classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, working out, coaching the Blackhawk Swim Team, and traveling. I am looking forward to a fantastic 2018-2019 school year with you and your student!

What are we working on in D4?

December Update

Writer's Workshop- We recently published our second writing piece, an opinion essay about our favorite dessert. Up next, we will be working on writing an informational essay. We will be tying our reader’s workshop, writer’s workshop, and social studies lessons together. Students have been assigned one of the twenty-one California Missions to research and write a report on. Students recently received their mission and mission book. They are very excited for this project!

Reader's Workshop- Our reading lessons will be tied into our writing lessons for this month. Students will be learning how to “read history”. We will be reading and taking notes on our assigned California Mission.

Also, we recently began a third class book. We are currently reading Operation Redwood as a class.

Social Studies-, Students recently completed a partner project on a California Explorer. We are now learning about how the Spanish changed the Native Californians forever… through the California Mission System.

Science- We’ve begun our unit on Earth Science, both in the classroom and in the science lab.

Math- In Math we are working on Module 5, Fraction Equivalence, Ordering, and Operations. Students are also taking weekly fact tests.

Sanford Harmony- We continue to Meet Up and Buddy Up each day. Once every two weeks, our class engages in a Sanford Harmony Lesson. Our first unit was 4 lesson, focusing on Diversity and Inclusion. Our second unit is also 4 lessons and focuses Empathy and Critical Thinking.
