The Tassajara Hills Foundation and PTA work hard to help support and supplement the students and staff at Tassajara Hills! Many of our programs are funded by Foundation and supported by PTA. We are grateful for all their support!

Please check out the Foundation Website or PTA Website to find out more about these groups!

Student Assignment Schedule  April 15 - April 17

April 15, 2020

Hello Parents,

Welcome to Phase 2 of Remote Learning! This week students will complete their classwork for the week using the Seesaw Learning Platform. The second grade team and I are also helping the music, science and resource teachers link their assignments to our Seesaw pages. This will allow students to gain access independently to lessons as well as act as a central hub for students to turn in completed work. The assignments from those teachers will probably not be up on Seesaw until next week. Until then I will pass along their instructions to you through email.

This week the Google Meet will be held at a different time. I have also added Office Hours to provide extra support. The office hours are a time students can pop into a Google Meet to ask me questions or get help with something they are working on. Office hours are not mandatory for students to attend, but a way for me to support students who may need it.

Day: Wednesday April 15th

Time: 10:15-10:45

This week students will start poetry in writing. The lessons this week are all about teaching students to be observant in their environment and look at things they see everyday in a different way.  We will also be working on finding rhyme in poems. Students always enjoy this unit every year. I look forward to reading their amazing poems.

This week students will also start our biography project. The focus this week is to teach students how to gather important information while reading.

Module 5 in math this week continues the practice of subtracting two-digit and three-digit numbers together and then checking their work by using addition.

In phonics we will be working with the suffixes -y, -ty and -ly. We will also be learning how the letter Y can make the long e and i sound.

As always feel free to reach out with any questions or help you need.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Welcome to 2nd grade!

My name is Lindsey Stockman and I am so excited for another wonderful year at Tassajara Hills Elementary!  I look forward to an amazing year full of exploration, fun, and growth! Here's a little bit about me.

I graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Multicultural Studies. After my undergraduate education, I attended graduate school at the Notre Dame de Namur in Belmont where I earned my Elementary Teaching Credential and Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

I have been teaching for 9 years and have taught in a variety of grade levels from kindergarten to fourth grade in the bay area.  I am a bay area native, growing up in Half Moon Bay, living in the city for school, and then moving to the East Bay after I married my husband four years ago.

When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy staying busy with cooking, traveling, yoga, hiking, reading, and entertaining my friends and family at my home.

I look forward to working with you to have a fantastic year in second grade!

good habits.jpg

I encourage you to help your student develop good habits early in the school year.  Listed below are a few suggestions to help you start the year off right:

  • Establish an appropriate bedtime so that your student is well rested and ready for school each day
  • Set up a quiet work area for your student to do their homework daily
  • Read together daily; this is necessary for your student to develop into a proficient reader
  • Send a nutritious snack for morning recess and a sack lunch, lunch money, or have your student use a lunch debit card that you have already placed money on by clinking the link .
  • Label all coats, sweaters, etc. with student’s name
  • Help your child keep their desk organized by sending only requested supplies to school
